Horoscope Study Tips

By Meagan Broussard

Note: All jokes aside, semester tests are stressful, but making sure you are prepared can help you make what feels like a mountain, be just a little bump in your way. Some tips are listed below:

Get enough sleep (I’m serious, I know you’ve heard this before, and I know you’re busy). Eeven getting a quick nap in after school can help you out! You’ll have more energy for things like studying. Being rested will help your brain function through the extra long periods.

Drink water. Yes, another one that’s been pounded into your head, but water can fend off headaches, like the ones you get while studying.

STUDY. The pomodoro method is highly effective; it consists of 25 minute “pomodoro” sprints where you do as much as possible in those 25 minutes.. After the timer has gone off, take a short break, less than 10 minutes (5 is recommended). After your break, set another 25 minute sprint and go for it! Every 4 pomodoros, take a longer break, this break is usually a half hour long. Get snacks, go to the bathroom, play on your phone, watch a TV show, whatever, but be ready to go again when that timer goes off. Do this until your task is done! (You can shorten the times, but that includes the break time!) This method is helpful to hold your attention span on a task, while not overwhelming you.

Get together with friends and create a study group. You’re more likely to work if you see others around you working too.

Eat well (healthily) before the test. This one will help power your brain to take on those 150 math problems your teacher put on the test.

Remind yourself that this test doesn’t define you. This is just a step along the way; you aren’t going to ruin your life by doing badly on one test in high school.

Don’t try to cram the morning before. Research shows that this can actually make you remember LESS than you knew before that morning. Instead have a coffee and try to destress before you head into class.

Watch “Study with me” videos on YouTube. These can give you inspiration to study + they use calming music

You will do fantastic. Just relax and use tips that are helpful to you!
